Web Technology Services : Web Accessibility

Why should I make my web page accessible?

Access to information is critical for success at work and at school for all users, including those with disabilities. With little effort, web pages can be made accessible and thus remove a barrier to information access to users with disabilities. The web accessibility law requires web sites be accessible to visually and hearing impaired users, and all other users with disabilities.

Federal Government Funding

UI web sites funded by Federal grants must observe the rules and obligations accompanying those grants. Under the provisions of Section 508, web accessibility is part of the contractual obligations of Federal grants. All other web sites are encouraged to follow these same rules.
