How to Purchase or Obtain:
Pricing: Licensing funded for Client Licenses.
Server Licenses are $55.00 annually.
- Red Hat Client:
- Provide the ITS Campus Software Program with the following information: department name, contact name, contact email address, contact phone number, contact Hawk ID and the number of licenses desired. If you already have a departmental contact, you will be directed to them. See the Red Hat Contact List to see if your department already has a contact.
- Email messages will be sent which contain an activation key and login information for the UI RHN service.
- Log into https://helpdesk.its.uiowa.edu/software/, click on "Red Hat Enterprise Linux" and download the WS ISO images.
- After you have the ISO images downloaded and the OS installed, launch a web browser, download the “bootstrap.sh” script from the UI RHN service, and save the script to the “/tmp” directory. The script may be found at:
http://rhnsat.uiowa.edu/pub/bootstrap/bootstrap.sh
- At a command prompt, become the "root" user, change to the "/tmp" directory where you saved the script, and make it executable:
su -
cd /tmp
chmod +x bootstrap.sh
- Run the script: (Note the period in the following command.)
./bootstrap.sh
- When prompted, enter the activation key previously provided.
- Provide the ITS Campus Software Program with the following information: department name, contact name, contact email address, contact phone number, contact Hawk ID and the number of licenses desired. - For other Red Hat Linux Products: Provide a requisition to the ITS Campus Software Program, 2800 University Capitol Centre #2860-19.
