Open Source Licensing
Many open source titles use the same general license agreements. The following is a list of the most popular license agreements:
- Academic Free License v.2.1
- Alladdin Free Public Licnse (Version 7, June 4, 1998)
- The BSD License
- The GNU General Public License (GPL)
- GNU Lesser General Public License
- The MIT License
- Mozilla Public License 1.1 (MPL 1.1)
The above agreements have been evaluated and approved by The University of Iowa Office of the General Counsel if:
- The party using the software will comply with all the notice requirements and any other technical requirements included in the license.
- A party intends to use the software for anything that would not involve a risk to human life or property damage then the agreement should be reviewed by a higher authority (ex. ITS Campus Software Program, Office of the General Counsel, or Purchasing) first.
