License Restrictions
The Microsoft Campus Agreement gives higher education institutions the rights to run the licensed Software for a 12-month period. This license agreement makes this licensing method available for some Microsoft software to the University of Iowa departments. Users will need to agree to/sign the Faculty/Staff License Agreement provided by your departmental contact, listed below.
Faculty and staff are eligible to purchase some of the titles at a low cost for home use for UI related business.

Listing of software included:
- Office Enterprise (2007 versions of Microsoft Access, Communicator, Excel, Groove, InfoPath, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Word)
- Windows Upgrades (Vista Enterprise or Ultimate),( Mac OS is considered an eligible upgrade for volume license customers.)
- Office Mac Programs (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Entourage, Microsoft PowerPoint)
- Microsoft Core Server CALs, Windows Server, Exchange Server, and Systems Management Server, SharePoint Portal Server. (This is not the server license, only the CALs).
- Microsoft SharePoint Designer
- Visual Studio Pro

Annual (Expires on an annual-September basis or requires renewal to continue usage.)
Maintenance(Upgrades are free over a defined time frame - September annually.)

Products not included in the Microsoft Campus Agreement:
Academic version is also available through the University of Iowa Bookstore for student or personal use. Most products not included are covered by the Microsoft Select Agreement for departmental purchase.
What about systems that need a Windows operating system, but there is no record of a prior Microsoft Windows OS?
Our campus agreement is for Windows upgrades only. At times we acquire a system that does not have a Microsoft Windows OS sticker or any documentation that shows proof of licensure. Microsoft offers the "Get Genuine" program. With this program Dell can offer us licensure for these systems at a reduced cost. The cost for one license is around $185.00 and the cost for a ten pack is around $1750.
