Thesis Workshop Course Description

  • Attendance at this workshop is recommended prior to consultations with ITS Survey and Desktop Application Services. It is suggested that you also attend the Thesis Seminar.

Course Description:

Join us to jump-start your thesis. This workshop will provide the necessary instructions for using Microsoft Word with the UI Thesis Template. An orientation of helpful web sites, including the location for downloading a copy of the UI Thesis Template and documentation for multiple versions of Microsoft Word, will also be discussed. Students will learn how to create a new document based on the thesis template along with how to attach the thesis template to an already existing document.

  • Explanation of Graduate College rules
  • Who are the people behind the rulers?
  • Why should I use only one version of Microsoft Word?
  • Choosing a Macintosh or Windows platform to work on
    (rather than switching back and forth between platforms)
  • Using printers and computers in multiple locations

  • Where do I get the UI Thesis Template?
  • Learn the pros to style usage
  • Using the UI Thesis Template styles
  • How to create Preliminary Pages with the push of a button
  • Is there a button that will create a Doctoral Abstract (PhD candidates only) also?
  • How do I insert a table or image?
  • Why does my Zip disk make a clicking sound?
  • Is there someone that will format my thesis for me?
