WebSurveyor: How Do I Backup My Survey?

It is important for WebSurveyor users to download their surveys to their workstation periodically for backup purposes.  Below, you will find the steps that are needed in order to do these critical backups.

Please note:  The instructions below are assuming that the survey has been published and results have been collected.

  1. Log into the WebSurveyor client.
  2. From the Dashboard, select the survey you wish to download, and click the Edit link.
  3. Click the Download button in the Navigation Pane.
  4. When you are asked to select the version of the survey you would like to download, select Published Version and click the Submit button.
Please note:  If you have not yet published your survey, or have made changes since you last republished your survey, you will need to select the Working Version.
  5. When you are asked if you would like to open or save the file, select Save.
Please note: Where your file is saved will depend on which browser you are using.  For example, Firefox automatically saves your survey to the desktop location and Internet Explorer will allow you to choose.

Your survey and results have now been saved to your desktop.

Macintosh users:

When you save a copy of your survey to your workstation, your browser may generate an error stating it does not know how to handle the type of file you have selected.  You can go ahead and save the file as it is to your workstation, as you will modify the file extension when uploading the file from a PC in the future.
