Adobe Acrobat

Adobe PDF

Adobe® Portable Document Format (PDF) is the open de facto standard for electronic document distribution worldwide. Adobe PDF is a universal file format that preserves all the fonts, formatting, graphics, and color of any source document, regardless of the application and platform used to create it. Adobe PDF files are compact and can be shared, viewed, navigated, and printed exactly as intended by anyone with free Adobe Acrobat® Reader® software. You can convert any document to Adobe PDF using Adobe® Acrobat® 5.0 software.

Where can I get Acrobat® and what is the cost?

To download Adobe's free Acrobat Reader software, go to Adobe's website: Adobe Acrobat® Reader®

To save completed forms created in pdf format, you must purchase the full version of the Adobe Acrobat product. The cost and where to obtain the software are shown in the table above. The shrink-wrapped, Academic Version contains media and manuals. The Contractual License offered to departments prices the license and media separately. This allows users of campus-owned machines to share the media for installation purposes. However, departments must purchase a license for every campus-owned machine with Adobe® Acrobat® installed on it. Departments wishing to purchase manuals may do so at the IMU Bookstore.

NOTE: While working with forms, if your form is displayed in a browser window, you will still not be able to save the completed form even if you have the full version of Acrobat. See e-forms tips for detailed information on form usage options.
