Microsoft Releases Office 2007 Service Pack 2

Microsoft released the latest updates to the 2007 Office suite on 4/28/2009.  In addition to general product fixes, SP2 also includes improvements in stability, performance and security.  Some of the Service Pack 2 highlights include:

  • Ability to save a file as a Portable Document Format (PDF) file
  • Native support for the ISO standard OpenDocument Format (ODF) file format
  • Native support for XML Paper Specifications (XPS)
  • Improved Outlook Calendaring reliability
  • Improved Outlook performance
  • Improved Excel charting
  • Ability to export reports from Access to Excel

Service Pack 2 will update the following applications in the Office 2007 suite:

  • Microsoft® Office Access® 2007
  • Microsoft® Office Excel® 2007
  • Microsoft® Office InfoPath® 2007
  • Microsoft® Office Outlook® 2007
  • Microsoft® Office PowerPoint® 2007
  • Microsoft® Office Publisher® 2007
  • Microsoft® Office Word 2007
  • Microsoft® Office OneNote® 2007
  • Microsoft® Office Groove® 2007

System Requirements include the following supported Operating Systems:

  • Windows Vista Service Pack 1
  • Windows XP Service Pack 3
  • Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2
  • Windows Server 2008

Note:  Please verify that your operating system is up-to-date by running Windows Updates prior to installing Office 2007 SP 2.
