"Allow this website to configure..." Prompt (January 2008)
When creating a new Outlook 2007 profile, there is an option to configure automatically. If selected, some preliminary fields are presented and then a prompt similar to the following is seen:

If the mailbox is housed on an Exchange 2007, configuration completes and the profile is created. If the mailbox is on an Exchange 2003 or earlier server, there is a prompt to verify the preliminary fields, it retries, then presents the manual configuration screen.
The above prompt will also be presented to an existing Outlook 2007 profile (with mailbox housed on Exchange 2007) if the workstation is not a domain member and/or off campus when attempting to retrieve/free busy. Select Don't ask me about this website again and click Allow and you will be able to retrieve free/busy information.
Using Thunderbird IMAP to read Hawkmail Email (July 2007)
If you are using Thunderbird (IMAP) to read your Hawkmail e-mail, we recommend you run Version 2.0 or higher. Problems with repeated password prompts when attempting to Get Mail have been reported by users with older versions of the Thunderbird client. To see which version you are using, select Help | About Mozilla Thunderbird and verify that you are running Version 2.0 or higher. This issue has been resolved by updating to Version 2.0.
IMAP and Password Issue (July 2007)
IMAP logon to accounts with passwords containing a special character (e.g., blank space, *, %) will fail. This is a known bug and fix is to be released by the end of July. Workaround: change your password to not include special characters.
New OWA login page (June 6, 2007)
The Outlook Web Access (OWA) web site (http://email.uiowa.edu) was recently updated. Due to the update, users who had bookmarked or made a shortcut for the site previously are experiencing "Server Error/Resource Not Found" messages. In order to access their e-mail through OWA, they will need to delete the bookmark and access OWA by typing in http://email.uiowa.edu. They can then bookmark the new site.

Accessing Network .PST files Outage (March 11, 2006)
The file storage servers that your network .pst files are stored on will be taken out of service on Saturday, March 11, 2006. The maintenance will begin at 3:00 p.m. and service should be restored by 9:00 p.m.
During this time, your .pst files will not be accessible. The Hawkmail server will still be available.
Attention: Hawkmail Calendar Users (Dec. 2005)
Hawkmail calendar users should review the following recommendations outlined in the Best Practices for Hawkmail Calendar Users.
Outlook Data Files (Personal Folders/.pst) (Dec. 2005)
Please remember to back up your .pst files if you save them on your local hard drive (C:). If you are moving to a new machine be sure to save your .pst files.
The maximum possible size for a .pst file is 2 GB. However, ITS recommends a limit of 500 MB per .pst file to avoid mail corruption. ITS recommends that you exit Outlook at the end of the work day. If you have .pst files stored on a network drive (e.g., H:), they will not be backed up if Outlook is running.
ITS Recommends Switching to Cached Mode for a better experience with Outlook
Make sure that "Use Cached Exchange Mode" is checked. See Cached Exchange for details.
Attention: Outlook Users
ITS wants to make you aware of the potential issue with Outlook using Word as the default editor.
Attention: OWA & Entourage Users
Direct Booking of Resources is not supported for Outlook Web Access (OWA) or Entourage.
