Syncing Your Blackberry with Hawkmail
NOTE: Currently this service is available to only Faculty & Staff on the Hawkmail server.
NOTE: Please see Blackberry Known Issues before you proceed.
Note: If you previously were getting your Hawkmail email from the BIS (Blackberry Internet Services) server via your cell phone carrier (e.g., Verizon) you will need to go to E-mail Settings on your Blackberry device and remove that Email account. Otherwise, you will get duplicate messages. We also strongly recommend doing a hard reset on your Blackberry device (Options | Security Options | General Settings and select the menu button, then choose 'Wipe Handheld' and follow the prompts. Please note: if you have data on your device (music, pictures, contacts) that you wish to keep, you may want to back them up by connecting to your wireless carrier or your desktop before you hard reset your Blackberry device.
To activate Blackberry Service for your Hawkmail account you must do the following:
1. Verify that the Blackberry data plan with your service provider includes the Enterprise option.
2. Send a one-time setup fee payment of $99 for Enterprise Activation to Deb Sabers, ITS, 2800 UCC. If you are doing a personal payment, you will need to send a letter or email stating that you want to use this service and will be paying the fee yourself. Please include your University ID for validation of eligibility.
3. Once payment has been arranged we will contact you for a time to move your mailbox to the Blackberry storage area during which your mailbox will be unavailable for approximately 20 minutes.
4. You will get the Enterprise Activation Password sent to you via email.
5. On the Blackberry Device, choose 'Setup Wizard' | 'Email Setup'
