What is Mass Mail?
The UI Mass E-Mail Service provides for the distribution of mass e-mail messages (more than 1000 users) to the campus community under a system of administrative approvals. The sender does not receive a list of recipient names or e-mail addresses. If you are sending to less than 1000 users, see "Summary of Effective Communication Methods for Large Audiences".
Faculty, staff, students, retirees, and affiliates are included in the directory and therefore can be selected as target audiences. Any personal restrictions in place on directory information are applied before the target audience selection is finalized. Keep in mind that this process does not reach everyone -- not everyone has an e-mail account listed in the directory.
Plan ahead so that your mass mailing may be scheduled. Please complete and return your request for a mass mailing and signed approval form at least a week in advance of when you want the message sent.
