Version 15.5 of LISTSERV - What's New?

What's New?

  • Less SPAM

    • All messages sent to the LISTSERV-REQUEST, ALL-REQUEST, or listname-REQUEST addresses will require confirmation from the sender before they will be passed on to the appropriate person(s).
    • Two New Settings that help eliminate faked email from spammers:
      • Send = Editor,Hold,Confirm,All - The "All" requires all senders to confirm that they actually sent the message before it is sent to the editor/moderator (for Moderated Lists).
      • Send = Public,Confirm,Non-member - The "Non-member"  requires all non-members to confirm that they actually sent the message. Members can still send without having to confirm.
  • Better Virus Protection - All messages sent to LISTSERV will be processed by the Microsoft Antigen Antivirus software.

  • Dashboards - List owner dashboards provide at-a-glance summaries.

  • Personal Preferences - Users can set persistent personal preferences, including preferred start page, experience mode (expert, basic, and tutorial), text size, navigation style, and archive preferences.

  • Moderation - Improved List Moderation tool.

  • HTML - The list archive browsing interface now shows HTML messages in their "full glory".

  • Archive Management - List archive management is now possible through the web interface. List owners may now delete individual messages from the archives.
  • RSS Feeds - List archives are available as RSS feeds.

The Project

ITS recently started a project to upgrade our LISTSERV - the software, the hardware and the underlying operating system. The upgrade should have a minimum effect on list owners and list recipients.
