I can not find the SUBMIT button in the List Wizard screens.
This has been reported to L-Soft as a problem (07/15/2002).
LISTSERV Version 1.8e appears to have more than one problem with Netscape 4.7. While this problem is being resolved we recommend that you either:
- Use IE 5.0 for your Web Browser or
- Avoid using the List Wizard.

Delivery error for the listname list because it was sent to 'owner-listname@LIST.UIOWA.EDU'
The message "The enclosed message has been identified as a delivery error for the listname list because it was sent to 'owner-listname@LIST.UIOWA.EDU' is a warning to you, the list owner, of a possible error condition.
List errors are normally sent to owner-listname@LIST.UIOWA.EDU. These messages are forwarded to the list owner with the above warning. It is up to you to determine the error. These messages will be sent to the alias in the "errors-to:" in the list headers if that keyword is set. Sometimes you may receive a message that looks like an error when actually someone meant to sent a message to the list owner, but incorrectly addressed the e-mail to owner-listname@LIST.UIOWA.EDU. The preferred address for sending a message to the list owner is listname-request@LIST.UIOWA.EDU.
For more information see the List Owner's Manual Section 4.7.2 The owner-listname address.
General
Is there anyway to tell Listserv to keep the whole URL together and recognize the wrapped part as part of the URL?
"You'll find this is probably a result of either your e-mail client or e-mail server putting a hard break in at a predefined point. LISTSERV doesn't do this, it merely resends an exact copy of what it's given in the first place." - seen on the LSTSRV-L List.

Attachments appear as garbage in the digest mode.
This happens when you receive your messages as "Digest (traditional) NOMIME DIGEST". Change your Subscription type to either "Digest (MIME format) NOHTML MIME DIGEST" or "Digest (HTML format) HTML Digest".
- Digest (MIME format) NOHTML MIME DIGEST - will send the attachment.
- Digest (HTML format) HTML Digest - will send the digest as html and provide a link to the archives for viewing the attachments.
Sorry, you are not authorized to...
This usually occurs because LISTSERV has saved a cookie from a previous logon with a different e-mail address. "A 'cookie' is a short piece of information stored on your computer's hard drive through your web browser, for instance to allow a web site to remember your e-mail address and password for future visits. If you are sharing your computer with other people, this cookie could have been set by someone else." L-Soft
- Try to logon again.
- Click on reset the cookie on the screen that shows the error or click log off here.
- Try to logon again.
Be sure to Log off at the end of each session.
Sorry, the listname list is closed.
This usually occurs because:
- The listowner has set the list so that only list members, list editors or list moderators can post to the list or
- LISTSERV did not recognize your From: address. LISTSERV uses the "from:" address in your e-mail for verification. Check your headers to be certain that you subscribed with your "from:" address not your "reply-to:" address. If you need to use both, for example you want to send messages from Eudora and Webmail, subscribe a second time under the other address and set the "nomail" option.
The distribution of your message ... has been postponed because the listname list is held.
I just got the following message. What should I do?
"The distribution of your message dated Fri, 19 Jul 2002 15:29:05 -0500 (Central Daylight Time) with subject "whatever" has been postponed because the listname list is held. No action is required from you; your message will be reprocessed automatically once the list owner releases the list."
This message does not require any action from you, the list member. It indicates that there is a problem with the list, and that the list owner has been notified. All messages sent to this list will be held until the problem has been resolved. Once the problem is resolved your message will be sent.
Issue a "FREE listname" command when you want the message to be reprocessed.
I just got the following message. What should I do?
"An error occurred .... The list is being held to prevent further occurrences of this error. Please take corrective action and issue a "FREE listname" command when you want the message to be reprocessed."
The message indicates a list error. If you, the list owner, can not resolve the problem contact its-sp@uiowa.edu 335-5450.
Once the problem has been resolved you may still need to "free" the list. To free any list:
- Go to LISTSERV at the University of Iowa <http://www.its.uiowa.edu/cs/email/listserv/>.
- Select List Management
- Login to LISTSERV.
- From the "- Please select a list pull down menu - " select yourlistname
- Do NOT use the List Wizard with Netscape 4.7 at this time.
- Click Command.
- In the command: field type free listname
- Select Submit.
- You should see the message "The listname list has been freed,"
- Select log off when you are finished with your LISTSERV session.
I edited the INFO (>>> $SIGNUP etc.) section of the default.mailtpl and saved it using the PUT command. Now the INFO command returns garbage.
What should I do?
This is known problem with Eudora. By default Eudora inserts one space before the ">>> INFO" or ">>> $SIGNUP" etc. The problem does not occur in Pine or WebMail.
The most likely cause it that when you sent the ">>> INFO" section back to LISTSERV using the PUT command as per the List Owner's Manual Section 9.4, Eudora added one space before the ">>>". This can be seen if you send yourself a copy and actually edit your in.mbx. This is not a problem if you used Pine or WebMail. To remedy the situation, if you still have the original e-mail that you sent to LISTSERV, send that to the Help Desk and we can PUT it for you. Otherwise the Help Desk can actually login to the server and remove the space from the listname.mailtpl file.
Once the file has been repaired, we recommend that you use the web interface. See the List Setup Guide, available under Support Documentation at LISTSERV at the University of Iowa for information on editing the welcome message, farewell message, and INFO form using the web interface.
If you actually need to change the information via e-mail:
- Set SendFormatFlowed=0 in your Eudora.ini settings.
- Using Eudora, start a new message addressed to yourself.
- Type or copy and paste <x-eudora-option:SendFormatFlowed=0> into the body of the message. (Note the "0" is a zero.)
- Hold down the Alt key and point your mouse to <x-eudora-option:SendFormatFlowed=0>
- The pointer should turn into a hand.
- Select x-eudora-option:SendFormatFlowed=0
- In the "Change Option Screen" click OK.
See http://www.eudora.com/techsupport/kb/1626hq.html for information about "What is format=flowed?"
Top of listGeneralI know I am subscribed to listname, but why did LISTSERV reject my message?
LISTSERV uses the "from:" address in your e-mail for verification. Check your headers to be certain that you subscribed with your "from:" address not your "reply-to:" address. If you need to use both, for example you want to send messages from Eudora and Webmail, subscribe a second time under the other address and set the "nomail" option.
