Configuring Outlook 2003 To Use LDAP
  1. Choose Tools | E-mail Accounts.
  2. Click the Add a new directory or address books button.

  3. Click the Next button.
  4. Select Internet Directory Service (LDAP).

  5. Click the Next button.

    Server Information

  6. On the "Directory Service (LDAP) Settings " screen, fill in the following fields:
  7. Server Name: directory.uiowa.edu
  8. Click on More Settings button.

Click OK button

  1. Click the OK button.
  2. Click on the Search tab.
  3. In the Search Base field type: ou=people,dc=metadirectory,dc=iowa,dc=uiowa,dc=edu
  4. Click the Apply button.
  5. Click the OK button.
  6. Click the Next button.
  7. Click the Finish button.


    NOTE: You will need to Exit and then restart Microsoft Outlook.

Searching with LDAP

  1. Choose Tools | Address Book.
  2. Choose directory.uiowa.edu from the 'Show Name from the drop-down menu.
  3. Choose Tools | Find.
  4. Enter your search criteria.
  5. Click the OK button.

NOTE:  In Outlook 2003 you will get an error because you're limited on the number of results returned from a query (e.g., it can't present the entire directory in the interface all at once.  Close the error box and then use Tools/Find from the window and it will work.
