Filtering Spam Flagged by PureMessage

Eudora | Outlook 2000 & 2002 | Outlook 2003 | Outlook Express | Webmail | Entourage (Macintosh) | Mail (Macintosh | Ximian Evolution (Linux)

Eudora

  1. Select Tools | Filters (Mac: Window | Filters).

  2. Click the New button.
  3. Check the Incoming box.
  4. Select Subject: from the "Header:" pull-down menu.
  5. Select Transfer To from the "Action" pull-down menu.
  6. Either select an existing mailbox to transfer spam messages to or create a new mailbox.

Outlook 2000 & 2002

  1. Select Tools | Rules Wizard.
  2. Click the New button.

  3. Select the Move messages based on content rule.
  4. Click specific words, type spam?, click the Add button, and then click OK.
  5. Click specified, select an existing folder, or click New to create a new folder, and then click OK.
  6. Click Next and verify that with specific words in the subject or body is checked.
  7. Click Next and verify that move it to the specified folder is checked.
  8. Click Next and select any exceptions.
  9. Click Next and specify a name for the rule, e.g., FilterSpam.
  10. Click Finish and then click OK to save the rule.

Outlook 2003

  1. Select Tools | Rules and Alerts.
  2. Click the New Rule button.
  3. Select the Move messages with specific words in the subject to a folder template.
  4. Click the Next button.

  5. Verify that with specific words in the subject is checked under Step 1.
  6. Click specific words under Step 2, type spam?, click the Add button, and then click OK.
  7. Click specified under Step 2, select an existing folder, or click New to create a new folder, and then click OK.
  8. Click Next and verify that move it to the specified folder is checked.
  9. Click Next and select any exceptions.
  10. Click Next and specify a name for the rule, e.g., FilterSpam.
  11. Click Finish and then click OK to save the rule.

Outlook Express

  1. Select Tools | Message Rules | Mail.

  2. Check Where the Subject line contains specific words under "Conditions".
  3. Check Move it to the specified folder under "Actions".
  4. Click contains specific words under "Rule Description", type spam?, click the Add button, and then click OK.
  5. Click specified under "Rule Description", select an existing folder or click the New Folder button to create a new folder, and then click OK.
  6. Specify a name for the rule (e.g., SpamFilter) under "Name" and click OK.
  7. Click OK to save the rule.

Webmail

  1. Click the Filters button.
  2. Select New Rule .

  3. Name the rule in the "Rule Name" field.
  4. Check Subject: in the "Select a Field" field.
  5. Type spam? in the "Text" field.
  6. Select "Deliver to Folder:" in the "Do this:" field and select an existing folder or create a new one.
  7. Click the Save button.
  8. The new filter appears under "Existing Rules".

Entourage (Macintosh)

  1. Select Tools | Rules.
  2. Click to select either the "Mail (POP)" or "Mail (IMAP)" tab, depending on whether you are using POP or IMAP.
  3. Click the New button.

  4. Enter a Rule name, e.g., FilterSpam.
  5. Select Subject from the "All messages" pull-down menu.
  6. Type spam? in the field after "Contains".
  7. Select Move message from the "Change status" pull-down menu.
  8. Select an existing folder or create a new one from the "INBOX" pull-down menu.
  9. Click OK.

Mail (Macintosh)

  1. Select Mail | Preferences.
  2. Click on the Rules button on the Toolbar.
  3. Click on the Add Rule button.

  4. Enter a name for the rule (e.g., FilterSpam) in the "Description" field.
  5. Select Subject from the "From" pull-down menu.
  6. Type spam? in the field after "Contains".
  7. Select Transfer Message and then choose an existing mailbox or create a new one.
  8. Click OK.

Ximian Evolution (Linux)

  1. Select Tools | Filters.
  2. Click on the Add button.

  3. Enter a name for the rule (e.g., FilterSpam) in the "Rule name:" field.
  4. Select Subject from the "Sender" pull-down menu.
  5. Type spam? in the field after "contains".
  6. Select Move to Folder and then choose an existing mailbox or create a new one.
  7. Click OK.
