Using Stationery Files to Create Message Templates

If you find that you repeatedly send the same message, you may want to utilize Eudora’s Stationery feature. You can create a message template, containing any information which will remain constant, save the template as a stationery file, and then use the stationery file to send a new message, reply to a message, or as a filter action.

Create a Stationery File

  1. Select Tools | Stationery, right-click inside the Stationery window, and select New from the menu. A new message window opens.
(Mac: Select Window | Stationery, click the New button, type a name for the new stationery file, press Return, and then click the Edit button.)

    Message

  2. Enter any information in the header area which will remain constant. The "To:" and/or "Subject:" fields can be left blank if the e-mail address(es) or subject line will vary from message to message. If you want to send an attachment with the message (and the name of the attachment will always be the same) include the attachment in the stationery file. In the above example, an Excel spreadsheet called "budget.xls" will be updated each month and attached to a message.
  3. Enter any text in the body of the message which will not change. In the above example, the sender will insert the correct month each time the message is sent.
  4. Set any additional options on the Toolbar (e.g., signature, priority).
  5. Select File | Save As Stationery, enter a name for the new stationery file (e.g., "MonthlyBudget"), and click the Save button.

Save As Stationery

(Mac: Click the Save button in the upper right corner of the message window and then close the window.)
