Moving Mac Eudora Mailboxes, Address Books, etc. to Windows
- Install the CRLF 1.2 application on your Mac Desktop. This program converts the end-of-line characters in each mailbox, address book, and signature file, which is necessary in order to move from the Mac platform to the Windows platform.
- Launch Eudora and compact your mailbox files — hold down the Command and Option keys and click in the size box (lower left-hand corner) of one of your mailboxes. Exit Eudora.
- Create a new folder on the Desktop, e.g., Transfer. Copy the contents of your Mail Folder (located in the Eudora Folder) to the "transfer" folder on the Desktop. Do not copy any .toc files, since they do not translate.
- If you have created nicknames and/or a signature, copy your address book file (Eudora Nicknames) and signature file (located in the Signature Folder) to the "transfer" folder. Additional address books are located in the Nicknames Folder.
- Drag & drop each of the mailbox files, address book files, etc. on the CRLF 1.2 application. CRLF will convert the files and write them back to the same location, e.g., to the "transfer" folder.
Note: Be careful not to drag & drop the same file twice, as it will be converted back to the original format and will not be readable after you transfer it to Eudora for Windows.
- Rename any folders to add a .fol extension. Rename mailbox files to add a .mbx extension. Rename the default "Eudora Nicknames" address book file to nndbase.txt. Rename any other address book files and add a .txt extension. Rename the signature file to standard.txt.
- Copy the converted mailbox files (*.mbx) and the default address book (nndbase.txt) to H:\eudora if your Eudora for Windows mailboxes and settings are on a network drive, or to C:\Program Files\Qualcomm\Eudora if your mailboxes, settings, etc. are located on your hard drive. Copy additional address book files (*.txt) to H:\eudora\Nickname or to C:\Program Files\Qualcomm\Eudora\Nickname. Copy the signature file (standard.txt) to H:\eudora\Sigs or to C:\Program Files\Qualcomm\Eudora\Sigs.
Note: You do not need to convert the documents in your Attachments Folder. Simply copy the documents to H:\eudora\attach or to C:\Program Files\Qualcomm\Eudora\attach.
